Differences

Patients suffering from bipolar disorder II does not suffers from severe mania they experience milder manic episodes which is known as hypomania

Depression

Patients suffering from such disorder experience cycles of deep depression. the symptoms are prolonged sadness, sleeping and appetite changes, anxiety, lethargy and thoughts of suicides are common.

Hypo-mania

During this episode reduced need for sleep and patient may behave reckless with a inflated feel of self esteem this may also include intense bursts of euphoria with irritating and aggressive behaviour.

Cycling

Such type of patients cycles between hypomania and depression with the periods of normal functioning. In this, depression is generally more severe than hypomania.

Considerations

Due to the severe depressive episodes the patients of bipolar disorder II are diagnosed with major depression. hypomania symptoms are mild and sometime not reported by the patients.
